Louis J. Proto, C.P.A., C.F.P., M.S.T.
A native of Olean, N.Y., Louie is a founding partner of Proto & Loskey, LLC, which was established in 1978. The firm office is located in Olean in the historic city club building. Serving clients throughout western New York and northwest Pennsylvania.
Mr. Proto served as the President of the Olean Family YMCA during its crucial-and successful-$3 million capital campaign to raise funds for its new Wayne St. facility. The state-of-the-art facility has enabled the YMCA to greatly expand and diversify its services and its opening has prompted a surge in enrollment and interest in the Y. In recognition of Mr. Proto's outstanding leadership during his three-year term as president, the YMCA created the "Louis J. Proto Charter Membership Program." Additionally, he has been honored by the Y during its "Salute to Olean" program and is a recipient of its Volunteer of the Year award.
Mr. Proto also served as the chairman of the Olean General Hospital Board of Trustees from 2003 through 2007. Prior to that, he served eight years as the chairman of the Olean General Hospital Foundation and played a pivotal role in the foundation's fundraising efforts for the hospital's ambitious Vision 2000 campaign, which raised $3 million to help finance the complete renovation of the hospital and construction of several new facilities.
In the past, he served as president of the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and, under his leadership, the Chamber relocated to its present storefront location on North Union Street, a move which greatly enhanced the organization's visibility. He has also served as president of the Olean Area United Way and has been on several other nonprofit boards, including the Olean Youth Bureau.
Louis earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Saint Bonaventure University in 1975. He also holds a Master's Degree in Taxation from Canisius College and a Graduate Tax Certificate from the University of Buffalo. He is a certified public accountant licensed in New York and Pennsylvania and is also a Certified Financial Planner.
